Guterres expresses his concern about the military moves in Libya and calls for calm

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

TRIPOLI – The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, expressed his deep concern over military movements and the risk of confrontations in Libya.

Guterres, who is currently visiting Tripoli, said last night on his Twitter account “I am deeply concerned by the military movement taking place in Libya and the risk of confrontation.”

“There is no military solution. Only intra-Libyan dialogue can solve Libyan problems. I call for calm and restraint as I prepare to meet the Libyan leaders in the country.” Guterres added.

The UN Secretary-General arrived in Libya on Wednesday with his Special Representative and head of the United Nations support mission, Ghassan Salame, after a short visit they made to Egypt.
