The Address | Benghazi – Libya
TRIPOLI – Head of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez Al-Sarraj, met on Saturday with the United Nations Special Envoy, Ghassan Salamé, and his deputy, Stephanie Williams.
According to a statement by GNA’s media office, interlocutors discussed the latest developments in Tripoli and “efforts of the United Nations to stop the attacks.”
During the meeting, Al-Sarraj claimed that the Libyan National Army (LNA) is bombing the city’s infrastructure and residential areas. GNA’s statement did not disclose whether Al-Sarraj discussed human rights abuses committed by militias funded by his government.
For his part, Salamé stressed that he completely rejects any attack against civilians and civilian buildings, affirming that “efforts to end this war are not over.”
