Foreign mercenary pilot conducts airstrikes against civilians from Misurata

MISURATA – A foreign mercenary pilot is conducting airstrikes from Misurata air base which resulted in the killing of several civilians in Garyan and Tajoura in the past few days.

42-year-old American pilot Joseph Frederick Schroeder was contracted by Qatar and has been working in Misurata since 2015.

Qatar began to employ Schroeder and other mercenary pilots in support of the so-called Libya Dawn, a coalition of militias formed by the National Salvation Government of General National Congress in 2014 to fight the Libyan National Army (LNA) following the launch of LNA’s Operation Dignity.

Spokesman of the General Command of LNA, General Brigadier Ahmed al-Mesmari, said in a press conference on Saturday that militias of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) are now using those foreign mercenary pilots to target LNA.
