UN envoy Salamé concerned about divisions in Security Council over Libya

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

TRIPOLI – The United Nations Special Envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salamé, expressed his concern about the Security Council’s divided position regarding the battle to liberate Tripoli which was launch by the Libyan National Army earlier this month.

Speaking in an interview to BBC channel on Monday, Salamé said that he is “worried about divisions in the position of the Security Council as is the case on the ground,” adding that “some countries support Field Marshal Haftar, and this support actually began 3 or 4 years ago, in the fight against terrorism.”

“I still hope that in the coming days the doors of political mediation will open, because no matter how long, the political solution will remain the only way out of this crisis,” he said.
