DERNA – The Libyan Red Crescent recovered four unidentified dead bodies in eastern city of Derna on Monday.
The Libyan Red Crescent recovered the bodies in Al-Maghar area after receiving a report from residents regarding the whereabouts of the bodies.
The bodies were handed over to the competent authorities to complete the rest of the proceedings before their burials, said the Red Crescent.
The city of Derna witnessed a series of fierce battles after the Libyan National Army (LNA) launched a military operation in 2015 to liberate the city from ISIS, Al-Qaeda and other extremist groups which dominated the city since 2011.
Clashes erupted again in May 2018 between LNA and the so-called Shura Council of Mujahideen in Derna, which is coalition of Islamist militias. On 11 February 2019, the LNA declared the end of military operations in Derna, after they had retaken the entire city.
