President of EU Parliament calls on Italy & France to end “tug-of-war” fight over Libya

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

BRUSSELS – President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, appealed on Monday to Italy and France to end what he described as “tug-of-war” fight over Libya.

“The appeal that I launch to Italy and France is to close the tug-of-war season and arrive at a solution to stabilize Libya,” Tajani said in a statement to an Italian radio.

The European diplomat warned that “going on like this there will be only deaths and migrants who will escape and arrive on our shores”.

For Tajani “action must be taken immediately and the [European] Union’s duty is to bring together the French and Italians to find an agreement”.
