NEW YORK – The United Kingdom failed for the fifth time on Wednesday to pass a Security Council resolution condemning the military operation of the Libyan National Army (LNA) in Tripoli.
British diplomats have circulated a draft resolution since Tuesday to members of the United Nations Security Council demanding a ceasefire in Tripoli and condemning LNA’s operation.
LNA launched a military operation in Tripoli in April 4 to push back against militias and terror groups which dominated the capital since the overthrow of Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.
