Britain calls for a return to the political track in Libya

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

TRIPOLI – The United Kingdom’s spokeswoman in the Middle East and North Africa, Alyson King, described on Thursday the situation in Libya as very dangerous.

Speaking in a video statement posted on Twitter, King stressed the need for deescalation, commitment to a ceasefire and a return to the United Nations-led political track in order to achieve a comprehensive political peace process to establish a sustainable peace that all Libyans deserve.

“It is very unfortunate that happens in Libya, especially when it comes to bombing innocent people,” she said, noting that there is no justification for indiscriminate shelling of residential areas.

King said that what is happening in Libya can lead to instability in the region as a whole, warning that this could be an opportunity for terrorists to exploit the situation.
