Tunisia to hold ministerial meeting of Libya’s neighboring countries

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

TUNIS –  Initiatives are ongoing to hold a meeting of foreign ministers of Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt in Tunis to co-ordinate efforts of the three countries to put an end to tension in Libya, Tunisia’s Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

Tunisia’s Foreign Minister, Khemaies Jhinaoui, is “building up contacts and consultations with the different regional and international sides to swiftly stop the military conflict in Libya,” reads the ministry’s statement.

Since the launch of the military operation of the Libyan National Army (LNA) to liberate Tripoli from militias, Tunisia has been stepping up efforts to defuse tension.

Jhinaoui spoke last week with LNA’s General Commander, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, as well as  Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Ghassan Salamé, among others.
