TRIPOLI – Deputy Defense Minister of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), Wahida Abdullah Najm, was kidnapped by an Islamist militia in Tripoli yesterday, Italian news website Affari Italiani reported.
At 4 p.m. yesterday, Najm’s official team lost all communication with him and his telephone was disconnected, according to Affari Italiani.
Tripoli has been dominated by criminal militias and terrorist groups since the fall of late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.
The Libyan National Army (LNA), led by Fied Marshal Khalifa Haftar, launched a military operation in April 4 to eliminate these criminal and terrorist militias.
