BENGHAZI –  Spokesman of the General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA), General Brigadier Ahmed al-Mesmari, said LNA forces found the wreckage of a warplane of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) which LNA’s ground forces shot down on Tuesday.

LNA’s ground forces shot down the Mirage F-1 plane after it targeted Al-Watia airbase near the city of Al Ajaylat. GNA and its affiliated militias denied that the plane was taken down by LNA.

Al-Mesmari declined to disclose any details regarding the identity or whereabouts of the plane’s pilot.

“We reserve the right not to disclose any information about him for the time being,” said Al-Mesmari.
