New head for Security Directorate in Zawia appointed

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

The interim government interior minister, Ibrahim Bushnav, has appointed Brig. Saad Ali Mohammed Rajab as head of the Security Directorate in Zawia, west of Tripoli.

He replaces Brig. Ali al-Lafi, appointed by the GNA.

It is not yet clear how effective Rajab will be, at least in the short term, or whether he will be able to take up the post. Zawia is seen as strongly pro-GNA.  But so was neighboring Sabratha, where Bushnav appointed a new head of the security directorate on 28 April. It declared for the interim government two days later.
