The Address | Benghazi – Libya
WASHINGTON – The Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) has signed a $2 million deal with an American public strategy firm to lobby Congress and the White House, Al-Monitor news website reported.
GNA signed the year-long contract with Mercury Public Affairs on April 26, after reports that United States President Donald Trump had indicated support for the military operation launched by the Libyan National Army (LNA) in Tripoli during a phone conversation with LNA’s General Commander, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar.
According to Al-Monitor, the contract calls for Mercury to be paid $500,000 per quarter in fees and expenses, with the first installment amount paid up front.
Neither Mercury nor GNA answered requests for comment.
