Former member of LIFG: Sabha attack is part of multi-operations to regain areas under LNA control

SABHA – Former member of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), Khaled Al-Sharif, has claimed that the so-called “The South Protection Force”, which is affiliated with Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), is responsible for today’s deadly attack on soldiers of the Libyan National Army (LNA) in Sabha.

Speaking to Lebanese pro-Iran channel Al-Mayadeen, Al-Sharif said that he knew in advance about the attack, which he said comes as part of an upcoming series of operations by GNA to regain areas under LNA’s control.

According to reports, today’s attack in Sabha resulted in the killing of at least seven soldiers from the LNA, one soldier was slaughtered, another was burned, while the rest were shot by a bullet to the head or chest.

The terror group ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack, but several militias allied with GNA have also alleged to be responsible for it.
