HoR calls on Security Council to lift arms embargo on LNA

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

BENGHAZI – The Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Committee of the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) called on the UN Security Council to consider urgently lifting the arms embargo on the Libyan National Army (LNA) so as to improve its ability to confront and eradicate terrorist groups that pose a threat to all countries in the region.

The Committee’s call came in a statement a day after the terrorist attack on a military camp of LNA in the municipality of Sabha in the South, which resulted in the death of a number of soldiers and wounded others.

The Committee stressed that LNA is fighting terrorism on behalf of the world, with its limited potential in a vast country, and that it has succeeded in cleansing most of the Libyan soil from terrorist groups.
