The Address | Benghazi – Libya
ROME – Head of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez Al-Sarraj, met on Tuesday with Italian Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, at Palazzo Chigi.
According to Italian channel Rai News, the meeting lasted about an hour and a half. No declarations were issued at the end.
Rome is the first leg of Al-Sarraj’s diplomatic mini-tour to a number of European capitals. He will fly today to Berlin for a meeting with the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, and he will travel to Paris tomorrow to meet President Emmanuel Macron.
Al-Sarraj aims to gather support after the Libyan National Army (LNA) launched a military operation in Tripoli a month ago to wipe out militias allied with his government.
