The Address | Benghazi – Libya
CAIRO – The Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi accompanied by the head of the General Intelligence, General Kamel Abbas, received the General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar at the Federal Palace in Cairo.
Ambassador Bassam Radhi, Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency, said that the President knew from Haftar about the latest developments on the Libyan arena, stressing Egypt’s support for counterterrorism efforts to achieve security and stability in Libya, as well as the role of LNA in restoring necessities of legitimacy and creating a climate to reach political solutions and implement the constitutional entitlements in a way that meets the aspirations of the brotherly Libyan people towards a safe and dignified life and building a better future.
The president al-Sisi stressed the role of LNA in eliminating all forms of terrorism, militias and extremist groups.
Marshal Haftar praised Egypt’s role in supporting the Libyan people at all levels, stressing the strength of the historical relations between the two countries and peoples, praising Egypt’s efforts in fighting terrorism, supporting peaceful solutions to the Arab crises, strengthening national institutions and supporting stability and security for the Arab peoples.
Haftar also reviewed the Libyan efforts to address foreign interference in Libyan internal affairs, which aims to smuggle arms, fighters and foreign terrorists into Libya.
