The Address | Benghazi – Libya
LIBYA – At least 37 Bangladeshi migrants are feared dead in the boat capsize that occurred in the Mediterranean Sea on May 10, when the boat ran into trouble on account of strong waves.
Expressing sorrow over the death of Bangladeshi people, foreign minister AK Abdul Momen said, “We have come to know through our foreign mission in Tripoli and the media that there were 51 Bangladeshis among the 75 passengers on the boat.
Fourteen Bangladeshi people have been rescued. So, 30 to 35 Bangladeshi people may have died.”
The minister gave the information while talking to the media at his office in the capital. The Bangladeshi ambassador in Libya has already sent an officer to look into the matter, the minister added.
The minister further said Bangladesh has stopped sending any people to Libya as the situation there is volatile.
