TRIPOLI – The Libyan National Army (LNA) shot down Tuesday morning a drone belonging to militias of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA).

The drone took off from Misurata’s Air College and was conducting reconnaissance operations.

According to the Military Information Division, the drone was shot down by LNA’s air defense around the Al-Jufra area.

Clashes erupted in Tripoli between the LNA and militias of the Tripoli-based GNA after LNA launched a military operation in the capital on April 4. LNA’s operation aims to eliminate militias and terrorist groups that dominated the capital since 2011.
