Philippines grateful for efforts behind release of Filipino hostages in Libya

MANILLA – Filipino Foreign Affairs Secretary Teddy Locsin Jr. expressed his gratitude to the individuals who helped in the efforts to free three Filipinos who were taken hostage in Libya last July.

On Friday evening, the United Arab Emirates foreign ministry announced that three Filipino civil engineers and a South Korean colleague were released.

In a reported posted by the Agence France-Presse, the UAE foreign ministry said the engineers were held by unidentified armed groups and were freed through joint efforts by Abu Dhabi and the Libyan National Army (LNA).
