This is not the first incident involving Turkey’s violation of the UN-imposed arms embargo on Libya. In December 2018, customs members of the port of Khoms seized a container coming from Turkey loaded with weapons and ammunition. The customs department of the Misurata Automated Inspection Unit announced in January 2019 that 556 boxes containing 8-mm Turkish pistols had been seized inside a container in Misurata port.
The General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA) has long called on the UN Security Council to investigate Turkey’s repetitive violations.
