Sarraj lost authority in GNA, UN envoy no longer eligible – HoR member

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

BENGHAZI – The Head of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez al-Sarraj no longer has any authority in the Presidential Council of GNA, under the control of militias on the situation in Tripoli, said the Chairman of the National Defense and Security Committee in the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) Talal Al-Maihoub.

In a statement to a TV channel, al-Maihoub said that the recent shipment of weapons that reached some of the militias in Tripoli is a clear violation of the resolutions of the UN Security Council.

He accused the head of the United Nations support mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Ghassan Salame, of explicit collusion with GNA and the militias of money and extremism, and intention to prolong the chaos in the country.

Al-Maihoub said they told the UN Secretary-General that his envoy to Libya had become not neutral and was no longer eligible.
