Major General al-Hassi denies allegations of LNA retreat south of Tripoli

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

TRIPOLI – The Commander of the Western Region Operations Room of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Major General Abdel Salam al-Hassi, responded to news of LNA forces retreat and allegations of the militias loyal to the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) regarding their progress in the fighting south of the capital of Tripoli, stressing that what happened was the exact opposite.

LNA forces advanced about ten kilometers south of the capital, said al-Hissi in statements published by Asharq al-Awsat newspaper, stressing that LNA forces have been in control of the Tripoli airport and their progress in the rest of the fronts is going well and according to the plan set for the liberation of Tripoli.

He revealed that the LNA’s failure to bomb the headquarters of the GNA operations at Tripoli’s naval base, Bositta, was due to what he described as special arrangements by LNA in this regard, but gave no further details.

Regarding the failure of LNA to stop the shipment of Turkish weapons that entered Libyan territory recently, Major General al-Hassi said that the entry of these weapons to the port of Tripoli was for a purpose that would be clarified later in reference to that LNA had known, in advance, the date of the shipment arrival.
