The Address | Benghazi – Libya
BENGHAZI – Fadel Addeeb, senior adviser to the General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, said that his meeting with the US former Special envoy to Libya, Jonathan Winer, regarding LNA intention to enter Tripoli had been rigged about.
Addeeb confirmed on his official Facebook account that what Mohamed Buisier said was a lie and that Buisier was never a political adviser to LNA Commander.
My meeting with Jonathan Winer at the US State Department in Washington, DC in early December 2016, was a continuation of previous meetings in Cairo, and what was said in the meeting regarding LNA intentions to enter Tripoli was rigged about, Addeeb said.
During the meeting, Winer said that they had concerns about LNA’s intention to enter Tripoli, Addeeb pointed out.
LNA’s entry is inevitable and all fragile bodies will fall,” Addeeb said he replied. Winter said, “I cannot give you permission to do that.” “I’m not here to get your permission,” Addeeb said. Winer replied, “I salute this highness of yours, and I will inform Secretary of State John Kerry.”
Addeeb explained that he challenges Winer to publish the audio and video of the meeting.
Addeeb said that Winer took advantage of my saying “the fragile bodies will fall when LNA enters Tripoli” when he met after a week with the Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR), Aqila Saleh, in Rabat and told him that Marshal Haftar is threatening to enter Tripoli and intends to overthrow HoR. Winer’s aim was to undermine trust between Marshal Haftar and Aqila Saleh, but he got very disappointed.
Addeeb explained that what Mohamed Buisier said that I told him “I did not ask you to accompany me because I know your position well” was a total lie and fabrication.
“In any case, I can not ask anyone to accompany me because this goes beyond the limits of my powers,” he added.
Addeeb confirmed that Mohamed Buisier was never a political adviser to Marshal Haftar, but he pretended to be because he was dreaming of this position.
Jonathan Winer served as the US special envoy to Libya during the period of the Democratic Party rule when Hillary Clinton was the US Secretary of State.
Mohamed Buisier is a Libyan-American politician living in Dallas, Texas. He used to support LNA operations in the country but later changed his position and started opposing LNA and supporting the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) and the militias allied with it.
