KHOMAS – About 200 migrants who were on two rubber dinghies were recovered by the Libyan Coast Guard today while two other boats continue to sail northwards, Italy’s Interior Minister Matteo Salvini said.

“Those who speak of ‘open ports’ help smugglers and condemn thousands of people to death,” Salvini added via Twitter.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said the rescued migrants were returned to disembarkation point at the city of Khoms, 120 Km east of Tripoli.

UNHCR and its partner the International Medical Corps (IMC) provided medical and humanitarian assistance to the migrants.
