TRIPOLI – The Libyan National Army (LNA) is advancing in various battlefronts in Tripoli, Director of the Information Office of LNA’s General Command Khalifa Obeidi said on Saturday.
Speaking to Russian news agency Sputnik, Obeidi said that “the Libyan army and its military units are advancing in battlefronts in the south and east of Tripoli with the support of the Libyan air force”.
On Friday, LNA conducted airstrikes in southern Tripoli which targeted heavy rocket artillery of militias of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA).
Clashes erupted in Tripoli between LNA and GNA’s militias after LNA launched a military operation in the capital on April 4. LNA’s operation aims to eliminate militias and terrorist groups that dominated the capital since 2011.
