Egypt, Tunisia: Ending militia chaos is important for Libya’s security and stability

JEDDAH – Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri met with his Tunisian counterpart Khamis al-Jahainawi on Wednesday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on the sidelines of their participation in the preparatory foreign ministers’ meeting for the 14th session of the Islamic Summit Conference.

Spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Hafez said that the meeting included exchanging views on a number of regional issues of common concern, especially the latest developments on the Libyan arena.

The two sides stressed the importance of restoring security and stability in Libya by supporting all efforts to reach a political settlement to the crisis, eliminating all forms of terrorism and ending the chaos of the militias as well as the need to address the smuggling of arms and foreign fighters into Libya.
