The Address | Benghazi – Libya
TRIPOLI – The militias loyal to the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) tried to launch an attack on Tuesday on the Tripoli International Airport, but the Libyan National Army (LNA) responded and foiled their movement, said the Commander of the Western Region Operations Room of LNA, Major General Abdul Salam al-Hassi.
The militias withdrew to rear positions in the center of Tripoli, and LNA continued to maintain their positions and concentrations, Al-Hassi explained on a telephone call with the London-based Asharq al-Awsat newspaper.
They tried to attack but were targeted by LNA, so they moved away completely and returned to the center of Tripoli, he said.
There is no statistic of the size of casualties among the militias so far, he added.
