Sea Watch rescues 52 migrants off Libya coast

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

ZAWIYA – Sea Watch, a German NGO rescue ship, said today it rescued 52 migrants on board a rubber boat off the coast of Libya, about 47 miles from the city of Zawiya.

This morning, the reconnaissance plane Colibri, operated by French NGO Pilotes Volontaires, had spotted the boat, informing the competent authorities and the rescue ship, Sea Watch said via Twitter.

“The so-called Libyan coast guard subsequently announced that it had taken the coordination of the case. Arriving at the scene, without any relief, we proceeded to rescue as required by international law.”
