GNA Head, Defence Minister are war criminals, hide results of investigation in collusion with Attorney General, say families of al-Shati massacre victims, condemning GNA initiative

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

The families of the victims of Barak al-Shati Airbase terrorist massacre condemned the “reconciliation initiative” of the Head of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez al-Sarraj, asserting that he and his defense minister Mahdi al-Barghathi are war criminals as the direct perpetrators of the massacre that happened in May 2014 against the Libyan National Army (LNA) forces.

The families accused in a statement on Sunday al-Sarraj and al-Barghathi of concealing the results of the investigation in collusion with the Attorney General in Tripoli.

“We followed the farce which the war criminal Fayez al-Sarraj called an “initiative to get out of the crisis” where he talked about an alleged reconciliation, in which he is only a demolition factor and a cause of sedition and war,” the statement added.

We renew our categorical rejection of any peace with the war criminal, Fayez al-Sarraj and his miserable government before he, his defense minister and the other war criminals are brought to justice,” the statement said.

The statement called on the General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA) to complete its mission in eradicating terrorist groups wherever they were and not to be dragged into agreements that would whitewash the perpetrators and their accomplices in planning, execution and concealment.

Al-Sarraj proposed on Sunday an initiative claiming that it aimed to end the current situation in the country.
