Shelling causes fire at Airport Road warehouse in Tripoli

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

TRIPOLI – Brega Petroleum Marketing Company (BPMC) firefighters have controlled a blaze  near LPG tanks at the company’s airport road warehouse in Tripoli, National Oil Corporation (NOC) said in a statement.

The fire started as a result of direct shelling of the facility at 8pm on Saturday 15 June with first responders on scene shortly thereafter, according to NOC.

It is noteworthy that militias allied with the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) had been trying to take over Tripoli International Airport through many attacks on the Libyan National Army (LNA) forces which have controlled the Airport since the beginning of LNA military operation to liberate Tripoli from the militias launched on 4 April.
