MISRATA – 8 out of 20 pilots of Misrata Airbase have flown to Turkey to receive 15-day training on operating drones after 12 others refused to take the course, informed sources from Misrata told the Address Journal on Thursday.
Turkey sends weapons and military equipment, including drones, as well as officers, to support militias allied with the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) and supervise their training.
Among the pilots, the Address Journal is reserved to mention their names, are two brigadier generals, three colonels, one captain, one head of unit and one corporal.
Since the beginning of the Libyan National Army’s (LNA) operation to liberate Tripoli, its defenses have dropped a number of Turkish drones, some with the possibility of bombing, but others just for reconnaissance.
