Disputes over the Tripoli airport between Misratan Bashagha and Zintani al-Juwail of al-Sarraj GNA

Media Center of the Dignity Operations Room in the Libyan National Army (LNA) revealed that disputes and disagreements erupted between Misratan Fathi Bashagha, Minister of the Interior, and Zintani Osama al-Juwaili, the military leader at the Fayez Sarraj government (GNA) in Tripoli, on Tripoli International Airport, which is controlled by LNA.

In a briefing on Saturday, the Media Center said: “Real problems began to appear between the criminal called Fathi Bashagha and militant Osama al-Juwaili because of repeated attacks from the regional gangs of Misurata on the airport.”

“Mukhtar al-Akhdar (from Zintan) said Misrata is seeking to control the airport and take out the al-Juwaili groups from any significant position in the capital, if any progress is achieved, and thus will be deprived of any kind of gains and will be treacherous by Misurata militias as they did in the war of Libya Dawn coup,” said the Media Center.

In 2014, Tripoli International Airport witnessed a fierce battle between Zintan and Misurata militias to control the airport, which was then controlled by the Zintan militias. The war resulted in the burning and destruction of the Tripoli Airport, which was put out of service since the entry of the internationally sanctioned militant from Misurata Salah Badi.
