MOSCOW – The Russian Foreign Ministry says the General Comnander of the Libyan National Army (LNA) and the Head of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) will meet in Moscow Monday for peace talks.
The ministry said GNA Head, Fayez al Sarraj, and LNA Commander Field Marshal Khalifa Hifter, will hold talks in the Russian capital.
The meeting follows a truce proposed by Russia and Turkey that began Sunday; the first break in fighting in months.
LNA launched a military operation in April last year to liberate Tripoli from the militias allied with GNA.
Turkey’s foreign and defense ministers are scheduled to hold talks with their Russian counterparts in Moscow on Monday as part of a shared effort to mediate a peace deal.
