Di Maio: EU mission to monitor ceasefire in Libya is important

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

ROME – Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio stressed the importance of European monitoring in Libya, reporting to the Senate on the ongoing crisis and remarked that Italy does not intend to intervene militarily in the conflict.

A European “ceasefire monitoring” mission in Libya “would be an important step to stop external interference, prevent the massacre of civilians and give the European Union a unitary profile and a leading role in the Libyan crisis”.

“Europeans are the ones who have the most to lose from an unstable Libya and the most to gain from a safe and prosperous country”.
