UN: Libya needs new government to solve legitimacy problem

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

LIBYA – Ghassan Salame, the UN envoy to Libya, said that Libya now needs a new government that is concerned with serving the people and preparing for elections in order to solve the intractable legitimacy problem.

Salame added, “The political process in Libya is not a matter of individuals, and the UN mission does not mean that Fayez Al-Sarraj will be the man of the current stage or not.”

Salame stressed that the solution should be Libya, and that the matter after the Berlin conference has become in the hands of the Libyans through the three tracks: security, economic and political, adding that just little of the Skhirat agreement was applied.
