U.K. drafts UNSC resolution calling for withdrawal of mercenaries from Libya

The United Kingdom demanded the withdrawal of foreign mercenaries from Libya through a draft resolution it presented to the UN Security Council on Friday.

According to informed sources, the draft resolution expresses the Security Council’s concern about the increasing involvement of mercenaries in Libya, and reminds of the international obligations agreed in Berlin Conference to respect the arms embargo imposed on Libya.

The draft resolution also calls on all member states not to interfere in or fued the Libyan conflict, and urges the African Union, the Arab League, and the European Union to play an important role in resolving the conflict.
