Fayez Sarraj gets the brush-off at French airport stop-over, Africa Intelligence

The Libyan Address Journal

Fayez al-Sarraj, head of the “National Accord” government, was subject to a humiliating inspection at the French Roissy-Charles de Gaulle Airport, the Africa Intelligence reported.

The site stated that Sarraj who was on transit from Brazzaville to another destination was subjected to a brush inspection and that his diplomatic passport was not considered.

The website revealed that the United Nations special envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salamé, traveled from Brazzaville to Paris with al-Sarraj in the same civilian plane.

But while French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian welcomed Ghassan Salamé, he did not offer Siraj even a simple handshake, the website continued.

According to the report, worse still, and contrary to diplomatic custom, al-Sarraj was subjected to a long inspection process when he went through a security check despite the protests of his personal envoy in Paris, Hamid Ahmed al-Hudayri, who watched the scene.
