Germany welcomes the 5+5 talks in Geneva

Germany welcomed the Libyan 5+5 military talks taking place in Geneva between military representatives of the Libyan National Army and the Tripoli-based government of “National Accord.”

“Germany welcomes the start of 5+5 talks in Geneva, with the need for constructive participation by all Libyan parties to resolve the crisis.” The German embassy in Libya said in a statement on Friday.

The embassy indicated that ambassador Oliver Owcza and German Foreign Ministry officials met the parties to the crisis in Libya through meetings with General Khalifa Haftar, the leader of the Libyan National Army, and representatives of the Libyan tribes and the Municipal Council in Benghazi, as well as meeting Fayez al-Sarraj and representatives of the government of National Accord in Tripoli.
