BERLIN – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov affirmed that the Libyan National Army (LNA) commander, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, is not a symbol of divide but rather one of the parties to the conflict in the country, according to the recognition of the Security Council.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said during the Munich Security Conference that his country is trying to help the Libyans to rebuild their country and achieve stability.
Lavrov added that he renewed Moscow’s call for a summit of the permanent members of the Security Council, stressing that the challenges are great and their solution can only be achieved by uniting international efforts.
The Russian Foreign Minister pointed out that the approach between the Libyan parties must be supported to rebuild and secure the country.
The Munich Security Conference has been held annually in Germany since 1963 to discuss global security policies, and its importance lies in being a unique platform in through which security issues are discussed, and it gives political actors the opportunity to communicate informally over a period of three days.
