The Address | Benghazi – Libya
TRIPOLI – The Head of the Tripoli-based Government of “National Accord” (GNA), Fayez al-Sarraj, claimed on Monday, that the bombing of the Port of Tripoli was a “flagrant violation of human rights”, after it was confirmed that Turkish military leaders had been killed in the bombing.
In a speech to the United Nations Human Rights Council, al-Sarraj called for the necessity of holding accountable those whom he described as the “aggressors against the capital” and who provided them with money and weapons, and he had previously approved the use of Syrian mercenaries, providing them with arms and paying them to fight the Libyan National Army (LNA) in Tripoli.
Al-Sarraj also claimed that GNA, allied with Turkey, has always expressed its willingness to move forward on the path of peace and stability, stressing his rejection of the “proxy war” and that he will not stop seeking to preserve the unity of Libya.
GNA had concluded contracts with thousands of mercenaries and terrorists to fight against LNA, by luring them from Syria to Turkey and then Libya.
