ALGERIA – The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, stated that the holding of the Arab summit in Algeria, scheduled for the end of next March, might be postponed until the middle of this year, due to the “new Corona virus”.
Aboul Gheit said, in a press conference with the Algerian Foreign Minister, Sabri Bogadom, in Algeria on Saturday, that “there is a global situation that may require the postponement of the Arab summit and not be held at the end of March.”
He added that the Arab summit will definitely be held in Algeria, and Algeria has the right to set the date in consultation with Arab countries.
It is worth noting that the Secretary General of the League of Arab States started a visit to Algeria on Saturday to prepare for the upcoming Arab summit, which will discuss Libya, Syria and the developments of the Palestinian issue.
