TRIPOLI – In the first evacuation flight of the year, 128 Sudanese, Somali and Eritrean refugees were transported yesterday from Libya to Niger to UNHCR’s transit center in Niamey, according to UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

“They will be hosted there for a limited period of time while their cases are finalized and a durable solution is found for them,” UNHCR said in a statement on Friday.

Refugees living in urban areas and others recently released from detention were part of this group, the UN refugee agency pointed out.
