Libyan Foreign Ministry condemns bombing Qasr bin Ghashir and Tarhuna by GNA militias

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

BENGHAZI – The Libyan Foreign Ministry condemned the bombing by the militias of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) on civilian neighborhoods in Qasr Bin Ghashir and Tarhuna.

The Ministry said in a statement, “The militias, as usual, carried out a new criminal behavior contrary to values, morals and customs, and in clear violation of international law, striking civilian targets in Qasr Bin Ghashir area and the city of Tarhuna.”

It added, “While the world is facing a fierce war against the deadly Corona pandemic that requires the concerted efforts of the international community, which had called on the General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA) to welcome the truce and the ceasefire, the unconstitutional, unaccredited, and term-ended GNA, its militias and foreign mercenaries are still practicing violations and crimes in a blatant challenge to the international community by hitting civilian targets and civilians.

The Ministry said, “As we condemn these practices, we call on the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) and the international community to condemn it, and we urge on the need to dismantle the militias and collect their weapons to go to the new Libya, a state of law and institutions that have no place for chaos, terrorism, militias and outlaws.”
