TRIPOLI – The Libyan National Army (LNA) forces controlled five new towns in the West within three hours, said the Commander of al-Zawiya Military Region of LNA, Major General Abdulla al-Hammali.

Al-Hamali, in exclusive statements to Sputnik on Thursday, added that the control of the five towns came after the attack that the militias of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) carried out on al-Witia air base west of Tripoli.

Al-Hamali said LNA forces were able to repel the attack and chase the attacking forces up to the Tunisian border, after it extended its control over all the towns in the region, with the exception of Zuwara town, located on the coast.
