US official: Trump, Erdogan agreed on importance of ceasefire in Libya and Syria

WASHINGTON, DC – The Special Assistant to the U.S. President and Deputy Press Secretary said that Donald Trump agreed with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the importance of abiding by the ceasefire in Libya and Syria and working to communicate a peaceful solution in both countries.

President Trump and Turkish President Erdogan have agreed that it is more important now than ever for countries in conflict, especially Syria and Libya, to adhere to the ceasefire, and to work for a solution, Judson Deere tweeted.

He added that the two leaders agreed to work closely together in the international campaign to eradicate the Coronavirus and support the global economy. The leaders also discussed critical regional and bilateral issues.

Turkey interferes in the internal affairs  of Libya and Syria, and it has hands in destabilizing and undermining state building.

Turkey openly supports armed militias in Libya and supplies them with weapons and mercenary fighters to fight the Libyan National Army (LNA) forces.

Turkey is sending arms and military equipment alongside mercenaries to western Libya to support armed and terrorist militias in the capital, Tripoli.
