SORMAN – The chairman of Sorman’s Steering Committee of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), Abdul Majeed Abunitshah, affirmed on Wednesday that the municipality is witnessing widespread security chaos.

Speaking to Qatar-funded Libya Al-Ahrar TV channel, Abunitshah said that “there is security chaos in Sorman, which citizens complain about”.

“Sorman’s Security Directorate has not been operated until this moment, and non of the officers responded to the Director of Security,” he added.

It is noteworthy that 393 inmates escaped from Sorman following an attack on the city by GNA-allied militias a few days ago.
