GNA militias ask Turkey for military aid

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

TRIPOLI – The militias of Fayez al-Sarraj government (GNA) asked Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to provide them with military supplies represented in land, sea and air forces, after the crushing defeats of the militias in their battle against the Libyan National Army (LNA), which is conducting an operation to liberate the capital and cleanse Libya of Ankara-supported extremism and terrorism, Reuters reported.

Reuters explained that the Special Representative for Libyan Affairs in Turkey, Amirullah Eichler, said in a tweet that GNA asked Turkey for official military aid.

Eichler added that Turkey cannot remain indifferent to GNA’s request, which he described as “legal and official”, to provide it with military aid, and affirmed Ankara’s response, saying, “We will give them a positive response.”

This comes after LNA’s General Commander Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar announced the response of the LNA’s General Command to the Libyan people’s will of mandating the army to lead the country in the next phase.
