UN mission in Libya “sees with one eye, hears with one ear” – LNA Spox says

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

BENGHAZI – The Spokesman of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Major General Ahmed al-Mismari, said that the United Nations Support Mission in Libya is turning a blind eye to the practices and violations of the forces allied with the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) in the capital and other areas in the west of the country, while focusing on making repeated accusations of LNA.

“The United Nations mission sees with one eye and hears with one ear,” al-Mismari said, on Sunday, on his Facebook account. This came in what appears to be a response to the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) statement about the military operations of LNA that targeted the Mitiga Air Base in Tripoli on 9 May.

In its statement, the mission claimed that LNA forces bombed the Mitiga Airport while a civilian plane was preparing to leave Tripoli, noting that “the strikes caused damage to passenger aircrafts, fuel storage facilities, firefighting trucks, the passenger lounge, and with reported civilian casualties.”
