Turkish UAVs still take off exiting from the Mitiga airbase in Tripoli, supporting the Islamist groups allied with the Government of “National Accord.”

Video clips obtained by The Libyan Address Journal have shown a Turkish UAV takes off from Tripoli’s Mitiga Airbase on Sunday, heading to southern Tripoli, where fierce battles are taking place between the Libyan National Army and the Al-Sarraj forces.

Last week, the Libyan National Army spokesperson, Major General Ahmed al-Mismari, said that the civilian airport of Mitiga was completely transferred to a Turkish military base to manage military operations against the Libyan National Army.

Al-Mismari added that the use of airports and civilian facilities for military purposes is an explicit violation of international humanitarian law and represents a war crime, because civilian facilities are subjected to the risk of being targeted as a legitimate military target.
